Unleash Your Inner Warrior in Destiny 2’s Epic New PvP Mode: Heavy Metal Allows You to Command a Brig!

During a developer livestream on March 4, Bungie revealed a new limited-time PvP mode called Heavy Metal coming to Destiny 2 in Heresy Act 3. The mode features teams of players assigned as Drake Tank drivers or Brig pilots, with Guardians now able to control Brigs for the first time. Drake Tanks also have new capabilities, including rocket-boosted backflips.

Heavy Metal is a 6v6 vehicle combat mode that will only be available for a limited time. Bungie mentioned that if the mode is well-received, it could become a permanent addition to the Crucible rotation, similar to the Mayhem mode with minimal ability cooldowns.

Bungie aims for players to enjoy the mode as “goofy and fun” and has challenged Guardians to perform a 360 no-scope while in a Drake Tank. The official release date for the Heavy Metal PvP mode has not been announced, but it is confirmed to be part of Heresy Act 3, launching on April 1.

Additional announcements from the livestream include the upcoming limited-time event Rite of the Nine, focused on dungeons, and the return of Io to Destiny 2.
