Seth Rogen shared an interesting anecdote about a note he received from Sony regarding the movie Superbad. During a red carpet interview at SXSW, Rogen revealed that Sony had objected to Jonah Hill’s character, Seth, using a PlayStation 2 in a scene.
According to Rogen, Sony found Hill’s character too vile to interact with their products, leading to a rewrite of the scene. Instead of both characters using the console, Rogen changed it so that Michael Cera’s character played the game while Hill’s character tried on clothes for a party.
The scene in question shows Cera playing The Getaway: Black Monday, struggling with the gameplay and questioning why he’s playing if he can’t win. Hill’s character is noticeably absent from any interaction with the PlayStation 2 in the film.
