New Release: Relic Labs Unveils B-Movie Twist on Classic Advance Wars Game

Earth Vs Mars is a new strategy game from Relic Entertainment, known for Company Of Heroes. The game pays homage to Advance Wars with its bold colors and tactical gameplay. Players can splice units with animals to create unique creatures like “Squirrel-Cows” and “Cheetah-Flies”. The game also draws inspiration from Relic’s previous title, Impossible Creatures. While the trailer doesn’t feature Chihuahua Whales, it showcases the game’s unique mechanics.

Similar to Advance Wars, Earth Vs Mars features grid-based maps and units with special abilities. Players can also choose commanders with passive and active traits. The splicing mechanic allows for genetic hybridization, like creating Rhino infantry with powerful knockback abilities.

The game offers a single-player narrative campaign with over 30 missions, online PvP as Earthlings or Martians, an AI versus mode, and a map editor. Earth Vs Mars marks the debut of Relic Labs, focusing on smaller strategy games to experiment and release titles more frequently.

While the splicing feature may not be groundbreaking, the game’s presentation is reminiscent of Kaiju Wars. If you’re interested in peaceful Earth-Mars relations or building monorails, check out Earth Vs Mars on Steam.
