Ark fans have been eagerly anticipating more information about Ark 2 since its debut trailer at The Game Awards 2020. Studio Wildcard seems to be gearing up to reveal more details, with the announcement of the first original expansion for Ark: Survival Ascended, Lost Colony, which will directly tie into the upcoming sequel this November.
Lost Colony will thrust players into the role of heroine Mei Yin, voiced by Michelle Yeoh from Everything Everywhere All At Once, as she embarks on a quest in a new world to uncover hidden secrets. This expansion will introduce new abilities, gear, building options, creatures to tame, and more to the game. Additionally, players who preorder the expansion will receive exclusive gameplay preview content immediately after making their purchase.
The Lost Colony expansion will feature several anime story sequences crafted by Studio MAPPA, renowned for their work on popular series like Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Chainsaw Man. The voice cast includes Madeleine Madden from The Wheel Of Time as Helena Walker and Auli’i Cravalho from Moana as Meeka.
Ark: Survival Evolved initially launched in August 2017, with the updated Survival Ascended version making its way to the current console generation in late 2023. Lost Colony represents the first expansion tailored specifically for the Survival Ascended update, as previous updates only incorporated content from the original Survival Evolved game with Ascended’s enhanced technology.
Ark: Survival Ascended is currently available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. The Lost Colony expansion is scheduled for release in November, with preorders opening in June. Players can wishlist the expansion on Steam today.
