The God of War franchise is celebrating its 20th anniversary later this month with a free update to God of War Ragnarok on March 20. The update, called the Dark Odyssey collection, is inspired by the 2005 God of War working title and includes cosmetic skins for Kratos and his weapons, as well as outfits for Atreus and Freya.
In addition to the update, fans can look forward to an art exhibition, game sales, and merchandise to commemorate the milestone. The Dark Odyssey collection features a modern black and gold character skin for Kratos, armor pieces, new armor sets for companions, and weapon cosmetics. It’s important to note that the weapon and shield cosmetics are designed for fully upgraded weapons and shields.
The collection includes:
– Dark Odyssey Kratos appearance
– Dark Odyssey armor set for Kratos
– Dark Odyssey vestment for Atreus
– Dark Odyssey witch frock for Freya
– Dark Odyssey weapon appearances and attachments for Leviathan Axe, Blades of Chaos, and Draupnir Spear
– Dark Odyssey shield appearances and rond for various shields
Sony will also host an art exhibition with Gallery Nucleus in Los Angeles, showcasing artwork inspired by the past 20 years of God of War. The exhibition will feature pieces from Santa Monica Studio developers, concept art, and unique memorabilia.
While the art event is focused on the game’s artistic legacy, rumors suggest that the original God of War trilogy may be remastered and announced this month. Sony Santa Monica is also working on new projects, including its first new IP in 20 years.
PlayStation Plus subscribers can download God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok through the PS Plus Game Catalog, with God of War 3 Remastered available in the Classics Catalog. PC players can purchase both games at a discounted price until March 20.
Anniversary merchandise, including a retrospective book set, prints, a Jörmungandr plushie, vinyl records, and T-shirts, will be available for preorder later this month.
