Warside is its own game, similar to Advance Wars, with a release date set for April 14 on PC. A console release is also in the works.
Publisher First Break Labs unveiled Warside’s release date in a new trailer showcasing its turn-based gameplay, reminiscent of Advance Wars. The game features infantry, tanks, and airplanes on a tile-based map, with pixel art that pays homage to the Nintendo franchise.
Warside is described as a “fast-paced, turn-based tactics game” offering both a story campaign and multiplayer modes. Players can expect 14 playable commanders with unique skills, over 30 unit types, and a map editor.
Developed by Lavabird Games, Warside began with a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2023 before partnering with First Break Labs in 2024. A demo for the game was released on PC in September.
Aside from PC, Warside is planned for release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Meanwhile, the most recent entry in the Advance Wars series was the 2023 remake package Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp for the Nintendo Switch, delayed due to global events, including the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
